Privacy Policy

Our privacy policy and how we use your data

Last updated: 25 August 2026

Melelo respects your privacy. This notice explains how we handle personal information when you use our website and services.

Information we collect

  • Account information, such as your email address and sign-in details.
  • Contact information you choose to send us, such as your name, email address, and message.
  • Basic technical information needed to operate and secure our website and services, such as IP address, browser or device information, and request logs.

How we use it

  • To provide and maintain Melelo services.
  • To respond to enquiries and support requests.
  • To run, secure, maintain, and improve our website.
  • To meet legal obligations and deal with misuse or fraud.

Legal basis

We process information to provide requested services, respond to enquiries, comply with legal obligations, and for our legitimate interests in operating and protecting Melelo.

Sharing

We use service providers that help us host, secure, and operate Melelo. They may process information only as needed to provide those services. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as needed to provide the service, respond to enquiries, meet legal obligations, and maintain our records. Security logs are retained for a limited period.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction of your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To make a request or ask a privacy question, email [email protected].

To request permanent deletion of your Melelo account and associated data across all Schools, email [email protected] from your registered email address. Requests are verified and completed by Melelo platform administration. Deletion is irreversible, and affected School contacts will be notified before erasure.

Erasure covers active Melelo databases, authentication records and user-owned Storage. Provider backups expire through the configured retention process and are not selectively purged instantaneously. If a disaster-recovery backup is restored, recorded erasure requests are reapplied before service resumes.

Cookies

We use essential cookies needed for sign-in, preferences, and core functionality. We do not use advertising cookies. If we introduce analytics or other non-essential cookies, we will update this notice and provide any required choices.
